February 27, 2025, Naypyidaw – The Central Bank of Myanmar officially introduced MyanmarPay – MMQR (National QR Standard) on February 27, 2025, at the MICC-1 Hall in Naypyidaw. This digital payment solution allows seamless integration across different digital payment platforms, streamlining transactions with a single QR code.
MMQR is a standardized Payment QR system developed in line with international standards, supporting the government’s digital economy vision. It aims to streamline digital payments in Myanmar by replacing multiple QR codes with a single, unified QR code— delivering quick, easy, and secure transactions for everyone.
Event Highlights
The launch ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the State Administration Council, the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, high-ranking government officials, international ambassadors, Central Bank of Myanmar board members, department heads, officials, representatives from financial institutions, and leaders from banks and technology companies.

MMQR Adoption and Wave Integration
With MMQR now widely available, Wave users can easily and quickly make payments by scanning MyanmarPay’s MMQR code through the Wave App. Additionally, Wave’s partner merchants can now accept payments from any mobile wallet using just one MyanmarPay MMQR code, streamlining transactions for businesses and customers alike.
